It’s time to get to know another member of the MAXIS team and this time we sat down with Pascal Stutz, Account Manager in our NORCEE Business Development team.

Read on to find out more about his role, the highlights of his time at MAXIS so far and his thoughts on the future of EB in the NORCEE region. It’s not all business – we also find out what Pascal gets up to outside of work and he shares something we didn’t already know about him…

1. Hi Pascal, thanks for joining us today! To start off with, can you tell us about your role at MAXIS?

Of course. I work as an Account Manager in the NORCEE team, which means I manage our multinational clients from the Nordics, Benelux, Switzerland and Germany. I work alongside the Account Managers and Account Executives in my team to make sure that our clients receive the highest level of service and can develop their global employee benefits (EB) strategies to really care for their employees.

2. How would you describe your time at MAXIS so far? Are there any highlights you can tell us about?

I started at MAXIS almost four years ago and I’d say a highlight for me has been meeting more and more people from the MAXIS family over the years. I started during the COVID-19 pandemic, so it was hard to meet people straight away and I wasn’t able to meet clients face-to-face either, so my highlights definitely came when I was able to spend time with both my colleagues and clients in person.

We had a Business Development trip to Malaga in 2022 and more recently we had an all-staff MeetUp in Rotterdam. Both of these were definitely highlights for me as they gave me the chance to finally meet people that I had spoken to a lot over Teams or email and really get to know them. It’s also been great to have face-to-face meetings with clients – I think these meetings are really valuable for forming strong relationships with our clients so we can add value and help them achieve their goals as a team.

3. You work in the NORCEE Business Development team – what trends are you seeing in the EB market in the region, and what would you say are some of the biggest opportunities for multinationals?

First of all, it’s important to say that the NORCEE region is quite big and diverse – there are lots of different countries and cultures within the region, which means there are lots of different approaches from clients too. In general, I’d say there’s a growing interest in key topics such as DE&I and health and wellness, and these are areas where I see a lot of potential for our clients. I’d say that we’re seeing a big push on these topics in the region, particularly from our captive clients, and there is definitely a lot of room for multinationals to respond to this trend and look at how they’re caring for their people in this space.

4. What are the biggest challenges facing the EB market in the region?

I think that the biggest challenge in our region is the demographic shift – we have an ageing population and a shrinking workforce, which has huge implications for EB in the market. Multinationals really need to look at how they are attracting and retaining the talent in the face of these challenges if they are to succeed and keep their valued employees.

I’d also say that high medical inflation and general cost pressures are a huge challenge for our clients. This is something that’s being felt across a number of markets, so it isn’t specific to NORCEE, but it will have big implications for the EB industry as a whole.

5. What’s your favourite thing about working for MAXIS?

I’ve read previous ‘Our People’ interviews and I know we all seem to say the same thing, but I really love how global and diverse we are as a company. The MeetUp in Rotterdam really highlighted this for me, it was amazing to meet so many people from all over the world and hear more about them and their culture. There’s always something to learn about the way people from different countries and cultures look at things and I think we’re lucky to have that opportunity at MAXIS.

MAXIS is definitely the most international and culturally diverse company I’ve ever worked at and it’s my favourite thing about us.

6. What do you spend your time outside of work doing?

I tend to spend my time outside of work with friends and family, and one of my favourite things to do (when the weather is good!) is have a BBQ and some beers with everyone down at the lake – in Switzerland we have so many beautiful lakes and rivers and it’s amazing spending the time outside together. I’m also quite active so I like playing football or hiking, especially during summer.

7. Is there anything we don’t already know about you that you can tell us?

I started doing CrossFit a few weeks ago and so far, so good. I’m really enjoying the exercise and the team spirit, there’s a real community feel among the group which is great. I still have to figure out if it will be my new hobby as I like mixing up activities, but I’ll see how it goes!
