Missing the big freeze in warm Miami...Read more

Captive owners, brokers and insurance experts arrived in Miami, Florida, United States a few days ago, as the 2019 World Captive Forum (WCF) took place at the Turnberry Isles Miami from 30 January to 1 February. 350 delegates from almost 20 countries around the world made their way to the conference to meet with experts and hear the new and emerging trends from thought leaders across the captive industry.

And at MAXIS, we were no different. Our Americas team were there in force and over the course of the three days, networked with industry peers, clients and consultants among others.

We also had the opportunity to share our current thinking and expertise with risk managers, benefits managers and financial executives whose organisations have risks insured by a captive or who are exploring the formation of one through an interactive panel.

Ricardo Almeida, MAXIS GBN's Regional Director of Distribution for the Americas, joined Bill Fitzpatrick, VP Corporate Risk Benefits at Deutsche Post DHL (DP DHL), Maria Sheffield, Corporate Counsel at Caterpillar Inc, and Mark Cook, Director at Willis Towers Watson.

With the increasing use of captives to manage employee benefits (EB), it is little wonder the topic produced a fascinating discussion among the speakers and attendees. Maria shared insights into what led Caterpillar to make the decision to form a captive, while Bill provided updates on how they use their data to influence other areas of the business.

Thanks to all the attendees and speakers who helped to make this year’s WCF an exciting and interesting event.
