MAXIS GBN

Mattieu will take over the role from 1 July 2020, subject to regulatory approval

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mattieu Rouot as our new Chief Executive Officer, subject to regulatory approval. The appointment follows the decision by Mauro Dugulin to step down from the post of CEO from 1 July 2020, having overseen a transformative period of client growth and network expansion.

James Reid, Executive Vice President, Global Employee Benefits, MetLife and Chairman of MAXIS GBN’s board of directors, commented: “I’d like to thank Mauro for everything he has achieved with MAXIS. Its success is because of his leadership, business expertise and commitment to the customer. I have every confidence in Mattieu’s diversified experience, business acumen, and strong technical and leadership skills. As a long-standing member of the MAXIS board and someone who has been involved from the very early days of the network, Mattieu is the perfect candidate to reinforce MAXIS GBN’s position as a definitive market leader. His appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to the success of MAXIS GBN and our belief in its potential.”

Didier Weckner, CEO of AXA Life & Health International Solutions and Deputy CEO of AXA France explained: “MAXIS GBN’s success is the fruit of the long and trusted collaboration between MetLife and AXA. In addition to how well the parent companies complement each other, Mauro’s leadership and investment in health and wellness innovation has helped set MAXIS GBN apart. I believe Mattieu will continue making MAXIS GBN the preferred partner to help companies craft tailored solutions to meet the needs of their employees all over the world.”

Mattieu takes up his new position having played a key role in shaping MAXIS GBN since 2014, overseeing MAXIS GBN operations from the AXA side. He was instrumental in creating the MAXIS GBN joint venture in 2016 and has served on the supervisory board since its inception. With his fellow board members’ unanimous endorsement to take on the role of CEO, he is working in partnership with Mauro to ensure a seamless transition of leadership. His focus will be on maintaining the ambitious growth trajectory of MAXIS GBN, expanding still further its client base and the scope and scale of local network partners.

Mattieu Rouot, incoming CEO, MAXIS GBN, said: “I look forward to using my experience to build on the strong foundations established by Mauro and the rest of the dedicated management team. My focus will be to drive innovation and investment in new technologies and solutions for the benefit of our clients and network partners. We will continue to explore opportunities across both mature and emerging markets to deliver sustainable growth and greater value for our clients, networks partners and shareholders.”

Under Mauro’s leadership MAXIS GBN’s growth has accelerated rapidly, culminating in the network securing joint leadership of the industry by premium volume. Over his five years at the helm, Mauro has consistently welcomed new global multinationals as clients, helping to drive impressive portfolio growth.

The organisation is now a world leader in the employee benefits captive marketplace with more than 50 captive clients. It has also grown its health and wellness offering with the addition of new data analytics and services while building a reputation for its innovative use of new digital tools in client servicing. Following the launch of the joint venture and the successful set up of the head office in London in 2016, the company now has well over 100 permanent employees spread across four continents.

Mauro Dugulin, outgoing CEO, MAXIS GBN, commented: “I am delighted to be handing over leadership of the network to a talented successor, with such extensive experience of both our organisation and the employee benefits industry. Our operations have grown exponentially over the last five years, through geographical expansion and increasing our client base – we now support over 500 of the world’s largest multinationals – and, through our people as we have attracted some the best talent in the industry. As an expert strategist with a vision for the next phase of the organisation’s development, Mattieu will prove a great asset in his new role as CEO leading the next ambitious phase of growth.”

Mattieu takes up his new role, having previously held the position of Senior Vice President of AXA International Employee Benefits (IEB) since 2014. During his time overseeing AXA IEB, the operation enjoyed in excess of 20% top line growth per year. He also helped drive a significant transformation in the business unit’s three primary lines of operations, its role in the MAXIS Global Benefits Network, International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI) and Reinsurance. Prior to taking up the role within the IEB, Mattieu was Head of Investor Relations for the AXA Group.
